The Catholic University of America

Insurance Requirement

Student medical (health) insurance is required for all full-time students (both domestic and international) and all part-time international students. These students will be enrolled in the student health insurance plan unless a valid waiver is completed.

Part-time domestic students have the option to purchase the student medical plan upon request.

The Student Medical Insurance policy can be viewed using the link below: http://policies.cua.edu/StudentLife/healthinsurance.cfm

Enrollment

Enrollment occurs online during the policy's stated enrollment dates. If you need to enroll outside of the standard enrollment dates because of loss of coverage, please contact the Student Medical Insurance Administrator at cua-studentmedins@cua.edu.

Waiver

Domestic Students: may waive their CUA Student Medical Insurance Plan as long as they have comparable health insurance.

International Students: must provide an English copy of their alternative health insurance policies to the University. The alternative health insurance policy must meet all federal government requirements and include repatriation and evacuation. Website descriptions of benefits may be used for this review as long as you present your health insurance ID Card.

Default

Students who do not enroll or waive online will be default enrolled into the standard policy and are responsible for paying the student medical insurance charge on their student accounts. Notification reminders are sent to student's CUA email addresses.
